Environmental education is fundamental for raising awareness and informing society about all the good that the earth provides us. The people of Mallorca are experts in caring for and protecting the environment, and during your stay on the island you should not miss this experience. At the foot of the Mallorcan Sierra de Alfabia mountains, Sa Vinyassa Orchards is a place where flora, orange and lemon trees abound.

The one thing that really stands out about this estate is its respect for its products. The estate used a controlled ecological agriculture process to make delicious orange and lemon jams. They also cultivate aromatic herbs and orange blossom and make candied lemon and orange peel. Culinary jewels grown on their 18,000m2 of land.

To discover the origin of Suau brandy, you have to go back to the middle of the 19th century, when Don Juan Suau, also known as “The Mallorcan”, began to grow a business making aniseed liqueurs and other spirits in the Americas. On a trip to Mallorca he fell in love with a young woman that came from a family which was also involved in the drinks business. Don Juan decided to stay in Mallorca and founded Bodegas Suau.

This company makes five different types of superior quality brandy, a London dry gin and a rum which combines the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. The bodegas are almost 200 years old and are located within a protected building which has enormous artistic and cultural value. Time stands still in the bodegas, combining with ageing and patience to create a unique and very special brandy.

Mallorcan Llaüts are traditional wooden boats that were originally designed for trawling. Today they are highly valued vessels that evoke memories and traditions, not only of Mallorca, but also of all the Balearic Islands.

At Itinerem we are committed to publicising and promoting the history of Mallorca, not only through the Possessions, but also through other elements that have formed Mallorcan culture and identity. That’s why we offer guided tours of both Formentor and the Bay of Pollença in these artisan boats through our partners Mallorca Llaüts, whose boats have also been used for advertisements such as Fitur 2017 or video clips such as for the song ‘Alma Libre’ by Green Valley.
